Pat O'Hara has signed on as the School Headmaster and under the guidance of the Founding Board is defining the classes and schedules. We are honored to have Pat as he brings with him an excellent background with vast experiences both in the field and as an instructor.

 


Greg Ambrose comes to the School of Advanced Segmental Paving as its new Lead Instructor. With him he brings over 26 years of experience in the Hardscape Industry. He is dedicated to the education of hardscape contractors in all segments of business and installation.

Greg is a Certified ICPI Level One, Level Two and PICP Technician Instructor who has taught more than 120 classes in over 27 states. He is also certified through NCMA.

He has worked in various roles in the concrete paver industry since 1984. He has appeared on four episodes of Discovery Channel’s Hometime as well as provided how-to advice for consumers and contractors on the radio. Greg has also enjoyed multiple speaking engagements on all aspects of hardscape installation such as; Commercial Installations, Mechanical Installations, How to Sell In-Home, How to Prequalify Your Customers, Specialty Hardscape Installations, and Bidding and Estimating. Greg also contributes regularly as an author for Hardscape Magazine.

As Tom Tomaro approaches 27 years in the hardscape industry, he takes advantage of knowledge acquired from his father, a stone and brick mason of 40 years.
Tom utilized this strong foundation to build and develop his company's reputation as an innovative leader in the hardscape industry in the Pittsburgh area. Along with his wife and business partner, Barb, they have evolved into a full-service, award winning company that incorporates unique and creative approaches to accommodate every landscape/hardscape need, with total customer satisfaction being their ultimate goal.
Tom has been an ICPI Certified Contractor and Authorized Instructor for the past 12 years as well as an ICPI Advanced Residential Paver Technician class Instructor. He has taught at the local level and nationally at Hardscape North America classes. He is also a Certified NCMA and Advanced NCMA Contractor and Instructor.
Tom also holds Certifications from the School for Advanced Segmental Paving in both Foundation Skills for Wall Construction and Foundation Skills for Paver Construction, as well as being a Co-Instructor for the course. In addition to his hardscape expertise, Tom holds a Finance/Quantitative Business Analysis Degree, 1990, from Robert Morris University.
Applying a hands on approach to his business, commitment to education, one-of-a kind designs, and personal commitment to his customers, Tom has defined himself as a leader and innovator in the industry.

Guest Instructors

William C. Schneider has been in the paver installation business for over thirty years, and is the owner of LPS Pavement Company and Advanced Pavement Technology Company.  Bill is one of the founding members of the School for Advanced Segmental Paving and serves as an instructor for the Permeable Paving class as well as the Foundation Skills for Paver Construction class. He is also a voting member of ICPI currently serving on the Board of Directors, Co-Chairman of the Construction Committee and Hardscape North America Program Committee Chair.  His companies have over the years, installed pavers all over the United States.  His work now is focusing on promoting the use of the BASS® system in conjunction with Aqua-Bric™, Aqua-Brickloc™, Aqua Loc® and Eco Bric®.

Charles Taylor has been in the construction industry for over 35 years and is the national sales manager for Advanced Pavement Technology and has been involved with marketing, sales, distribution and installation of flexible pavement systems for over 25 years.

Bob Cramer, Director of Operations, has been with PAVE TECH full time since January 1998. He has taught numerous installation seminars and hands-on demonstrations over the years around the country. Normally working at PAVE TECH’s Minnesota office in sales, technical support and product development, he occasionally is a guest instructor for the Foundation Skills class and Hardscape Chemical Certification class.

Fred Adams is the Vice-President of Fred Adams Paving Co., Inc. located in Morrisville, NC he has been in the installation business since 1984.  He has numerous crews who specialize in installing hardscape products on both commercial and residential projects.  Fred has taught numerous students over the years and focuses on segmental contactor issues and “how to grow your business”.  He is an active voting contractor member of ICPI and a past Construction Committee Chairman. Currently he serves on the ICPI Board of Directors and is an advocate for promoting contractor training and education opportunities.

Mark Schmitt is the owner of Schmitt’s Landscape Company in Wheaton, IL.   He has been installing landscapes and hardscapes since 1984. Mark is also a founding member of the School for Advanced Segmental Paving.  Starting with no experience as a new contractor and a desire for knowledge, he has always had a passion for the best tools, materials and practices for hardscape installations. This pursuit has lead him to the development of two hardscape tools, trucking paving stones into Chicago from New Jersey and Minnesota and to an association with Steve Jones, Pave Tech and the School for Segmental Paving. Mark lives 25 miles west of Chicago, in Wheaton, with his wife Colleen and their five children.
